Basic Health Care - Program Details

At Mt. Hood Community College, our basic health care certificate teaches you all the basic and soft skills you need to start your career. There are hands on lab courses that will give you experience with patients. This certificate can be completed in one full time year or over several years part time.

Learning the Basics

The basic health care certificate allows you to enter the workforce with the knowledge you need to secure an entry-level health care job working in a medical office, hospital, or private setting.

Program Outcomes

After completing this program you'll be able to:

  • Identify the requirements to work as a professional in related health care environments.
  • Identify needed abilities to function effectively at an entry in the health care setting.
  • Describe technical skills needed to work effectively and safely in their chosen health care track.

Courses and Curriculum

You will take courses in medical terminology, office procedures, documentation, insurance, and more. You should work with the faculty advisor to create a custom academic plan based on course placement levels, career goals, and full-time/part-time status.
