Biology
If you are fascinated by plants and animals and the changes species make over time, then you might want to consider majoring in Biology. At Mt. Hood Community College, our courses prepare you for some entry level jobs in a variety of scientific fields. MHCC is also a great place to start the first two years of a bachelor’s degree before transferring to a four-year university.
The Experience
Program Details
Biology is the study of living things. You will learn all about plants and animals, and you’ll study the conditions that make life possible. You will also learn about how plants and animals evolve and change through time. The Biology major at MHCC lets you earn most of your core credits at a lower cost before transferring to a four-year school to finish your bachelor’s degree. If you want to transfer to a four-year school, you should work with your transfer school of choice and an MHCC advisor to make sure you are taking the right classes.
Your future
With a degree in biology, your future career options include biologist, zoologist, animal scientist, molecular biologist, epidemiologist, biochemist, biostatistician, and more. MHCC works with a number of four-year institutions to make sure your credits can easily transfer for completion of your bachelor’s, including Eastern Oregon University, Oregon State University, Pacific University - PharmD Bridge Program, Portland State University, Southern Oregon University, and University of Oregon.
How To Get Started
You can start the Biology program during any term. Students admitted to MHCC can sign up for classes in the program after reading, writing, and math placement requirements have been met.
