Applied to MHCC? Here's what to do next
After you have been admitted to MHCC, you will need to meet the course prerequisites listed below.
The Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) program starts at 300-level coursework. A student may start at any time in this 300/400 credit-level program through the following pathways. It is recommended that students complete an associate degree prior to starting the BAS program.
Current MHCC student:
- Completed the MHCC Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in cybersecurity (networking and security operations or penetration testing) degree? Request to change your major after you complete your AAS and get started.
- Completed the AAS Computer Information Systems? You would need to complete the ISTM283F and ISTM233P prerequisites.
- Completed or close to completing other associate degrees? Please see list of required prerequisites below. If you have completed more than 45 credits and the prerequisites, meet with your advisor to update your major to BAS.
Transfer Students:
- Completed an associate’s degree or equivalent at another school? (equivalent can be two years of college course work from a university, college or credit applied from industry experience or a credential)
- Or have more than 45 lower division course work to transfer in (100 or 200 level)?
- You must send your transfer school transcript and request a transcript evaluation, then meet with an advisor to determine prerequisites met. The BAS major will be updated if these have been completed.
Any new students intending to be a BAS major who do not meet the criteria for one of the listed pathways above may start with one of the AAS cybersecurity degrees. The AAS includes the prerequisites needed to start the BAS program.
