If you are curious about how the world works, then several careers in physics will fuel that curiosity. Here are just a few of the career opportunities available to you after graduation.
Future Careers
MHCC Career Coaches are here to help you explore your career options after graduation. Below are a few common paths graduates can pursue.
Physicists
As a physicist, your daily tasks will include performing complex calculations as part of the analysis and evaluation of data, using computers, and analyzing data from research conducted to detect and measure physical phenomena.
Materials Scientists
As a materials scientist, you will determine ways to strengthen or combine materials or develop new materials with new or specific properties for use in various products and applications. You will also plan laboratory experiments to confirm the feasibility of processes and techniques for producing materials with particular characteristics.
Atmospheric and Space Scientists
In these roles, you will be responsible for preparing weather reports or maps for analysis, distribution, or use in weather broadcasts, using computer graphics and developing or using mathematical or computer models for weather forecasting.
Nuclear Engineers
As a nuclear engineer, you will do tasks such as designing or developing nuclear equipment, including reactor cores, radiation shielding, or associated instrumentation or control mechanisms. You will also direct the operating or maintenance activities of nuclear power plants to ensure efficiency and conformity to safety standards.
Natural Sciences Managers
As a natural sciences manager, you are responsible for conferring with scientists, engineers, regulators, or others to plan or review projects or to provide technical assistance. You will also develop client relationships and communicate with clients to explain proposals, present research findings, establish specifications, or discuss project status.
