Future Careers
MHCC Career Coaches are here to help you explore your career options after graduation. Below are a few common paths graduates can pursue.
Set and Exhibit Designers
As a Set or Exhibit Designer, you will develop set designs based on scripts, budgets, research information, and available locations. You will also prepare rough drafts and scale working drawings of sets, including floor plans, scenery, and properties to be constructed.
Actors
As an actor or actress, you will work closely with directors, other actors, and playwrights to find the interpretation most suited to your role. You will portray and interpret parts, using speech, gestures, and body movements, to entertain, inform, or instruct radio, film, television, or live audiences.
Costume Attendants
As a Costume Attendant, you will create worksheets for dressing lists, show notes, or costume checks. You will also provide dressing assistance to cast members or assign cast dressers to assist specific cast members with costume changes.
Makeup Artists, Theatrical and Performance
In these roles, attention to detail is key. You will duplicate work precisely to replicate characters' appearances on a daily basis and select desired makeup shades from stock, or mix oil, grease, and coloring to achieve specific color effects.
General and Operations Managers
In this role, you will prepare staff work schedules and assign specific duties. You will also monitor suppliers to ensure they efficiently and effectively provide needed goods or services within budgetary limits.
