Frequently Asked Questions
Normally, the Music major program takes two years of full-time study. If you're starting your first two years of a four-year degree, it's two years here plus two more at a four-year school. Some students take longer because they can't attend full-time or need help with reading, writing, or math.
In addition to an associate degree, if you complete the Music program, you'll be able to:
- Demonstrate performance proficiency on a primary instrument and at a basic level on the keyboard.
- Recognize and articulate the interrelationships of basic musical properties through performance, analysis, composition, and evaluation.
- Engage in both written and verbal discourse on any musical composition in historical, social, and cultural contexts.
- Analyze complex hierarchical musical structures through reasoned, formal, or mathematical processes.
- Demonstrate original thinking by creating musical compositions in a variety of styles.
